Gymnastics
World Inc., started in 1978 under the name of Gymnastics Center of
Tucson and became incorporated a few years later. We have had over
60,000 students come through our program. We operate facilities in
Northwest Tucson and Central Tucson. The owners, Yoichi
Tomita and Don Gutzler have been partners for over 30 years! Yoichi
has been an Olympic coach in Seoul, Korea and in Sydney, Australia.
Don coached Olympians Kurt Thomas (Montreal '76) and Kerry Strug
(Barcelona '92 and Atlanta '96).
Our
program for age specific groups gets tested on progressive skills to
enhance their learning. We maintain a low teacher to student ratio so
students can achieve their very best. We have had state champions
every year since we've started competing in 1979.
The Northwest Gymnastics World has had a competitive team
since 1999. The team has built from three level 5's in our first
season to a team that spans from Training Teams (Hot Shots, SuperStars & Pre-Team) to Level's 4-8 and hopefully above! The
Gymnastics World Northwest team is special in that once you are part of
the team, you are part of a family. Many of our prior team girls have
gone on to be coaches at our gym. The girls at Gymnastics World
Northwest are not just learning gymnastics, they are having fun and
make great friendships that will last a lifetime!
GSO-GIRLS is host to the Annual Jessica Kleya Memorial Invitational
every March. Please join us on our Kleya pages for more information
about this fantastic event in memory of one of our special gymnasts!
Stop by our GSO-GIRLS Team store
for GK Leos, GK Shorts, GK WarmUps, Team Tees, Dowel Grips, Wristbands,
and other fun accessories for your gymnastics experiences!
